Metrolink’s Role in Passenger Transportation in the USA

Alstom will operate Metrolink’s eight rail lines, covering over 878 kilometers of Southern California. Millions of passengers rely on this system, making it a critical component of the region’s infrastructure.

The contract includes managing 258 railcars, 57 of which feature control cabs for operational efficiency. Additionally, 60 locomotives, manufactured between 1992 and 2021, will be under Alstom’s supervision.

Bombardier Transportation and Hyundai Rotem produced the railcars between 1992 and 2013. Alstom’s 2021 acquisition of Bombardier expanded its technical capabilities and global market presence significantly.
