Alstom designed the train with a wide open gangway and a dedicated women’s area to enhance comfort and safety. Alongside the trains, the company is supplying the predictive maintenance system HealthHub.

This digital platform analyzes real-time data and helps prevent technical failures. It reduces operational costs and extends the equipment’s lifespan.

Alstom’s contract with Egypt’s NAT authority

The agreement between Alstom and Egypt’s National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) was signed in November 2021. The contract, worth €876 million, includes the delivery of 55 trains and eight years of maintenance.

Funding is provided by the French government, underlining the strategic transport partnership between the two countries.

Earlier announcements mentioned final assembly at the SEMAF plant in Egypt, with a localization rate of 13.3%. However, Alstom has not recently referenced this facility in relation to the project.

Alstom expands its industrial presence in Egypt

The company recently signed an agreement to build two new manufacturing sites in Egypt. These investments strengthen Alstom’s regional footprint and support job creation.

Alstom is committed to integrating environmentally sustainable technologies into the transport systems of densely populated cities.

This first delivery marks a significant milestone in Cairo’s public transport modernization efforts, bringing state-of-the-art solutions that meet global standards.
