Alstom Delivers First Innovia APM R Train to Atlanta Airport

Alstom has delivered the first of 29 Innovia APM R vehicles to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, supporting a major $87M upgrade to its internal terminal transit system. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This marks the third major order from the airport, raising the total number of Alstom-supplied APM units to 63. The new vehicles aim to improve reliability and reduce service disruptions.

In 2024, Atlanta Airport handled more than 108 million travelers. This growing demand prompted investment in higher-capacity, energy-efficient transport options for passengers.
Alstom developed the latest APM R trains at its West Mifflin, Pennsylvania facility. Each unit features lightweight aluminum design, upgraded propulsion, and onboard systems that meet strict safety and environmental standards.
Each train accommodates up to 900 passengers and offers improved speed and operational performance. These upgrades align with the airport’s long-term infrastructure strategy.
