Alstom faces lawsuits for train launch delays in Lille and deliveries to Bucharest, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The transport company of the French Lille metropolitan area, MEL, has filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer to compel it to fulfill its contract obligations and compensate for the damages caused by delays.

MEL claims that the fleet of 27 Metropolis trains, ordered in 2012, will not be operational until at least 2026, as September tests revealed incorrect functioning in 65 points of the train control system.
Alstom, in turn, asserts that the system operates reliably, except for automatic door issues, and aims to launch the trains in 2024.
The company has already paid €53 million for previous delays, while penalties for the delay in delivering 13 metro trains to Bucharest have reached €18 million. The first set was supposed to be delivered in June 2022 but was still at Alstom’s Taubate plant in September 2023.
