Alstom Competence Center Opens in Astana for Signaling Development
04.08.2025
A new Alstom competence center has opened in Astana to deploy the Ebilock-950 system and train specialists in modern railway signaling. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The Competence Center Strengthens the KTZ-Alstom Partnership
The center was established under a strategic agreement between JSC “NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” (KTZ) and Alstom, signed in Paris in November 2023 during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s official visit to France.

The Ebilock-950 system is already operational at 85 KTZ stations and will now be adapted to Kazakhstan’s rail infrastructure. According to KTZ Chief Engineer Ramazan Sadyrkulov, the solution meets international standards and will soon undergo certification, factory testing, and operational trials.
Beyond technology deployment, the competence center will focus on staff training, software adaptation, technical support, and system certification.
The Competence Center Is Part of Alstom’s Growing Footprint
This is not the only new facility Alstom has launched in Kazakhstan in 2025. In June, the company opened its first service depot in Shu, which services KZ4 and KZ8 electric locomotives. Simultaneously, a new service center is under construction in Astana to strengthen maintenance capabilities.
Alstom is clearly demonstrating long-term ambitions in the region. Meanwhile, KTZ gains access to cutting-edge technologies and global engineering expertise. This partnership enhances infrastructure reliability and supports the growth of a skilled domestic workforce.
The new Alstom competence center in Astana is a critical hub for technological modernization, localization of solutions, and knowledge transfer. It already plays a central role in the digital transformation of train traffic management.
