The proposed railway includes two major lines. One will link the capital, Algiers, on the Mediterranean coast with Tamanrasset, near Niger’s border. This line will ensure seamless connectivity across Algeria’s vast terrain.
A second line, spanning 2,406 kilometers, will cross 10 provinces. It represents a crucial step toward enhancing inter-regional trade, transportation, and development.
Strategic Vision for a Modern Railway Network
The initiative aligns with Algeria’s broader development strategies. “We aim to modernize and expand Algeria’s railway system to meet national needs,” said Abdul Qadir Mazar, the agency’s information chief.
Projects like this will strengthen economic ties and improve access to remote regions. Algeria’s focus on infrastructure development highlights its vision for sustainable growth.
The government prioritizes initiatives like the trans-desert railway, which will significantly boost logistics between key urban and rural areas.
