The $54,500 agreement spans five months and focuses on efficiency, sustainability, and passenger experience. And because Alexandria faces complex mobility challenges, the plan will prioritize optimized station design, route alignment, and smooth passenger flow.
Alexandria Metro to Connect Historic and Residential Hubs
The new metro line will stretch nearly 21 kilometers, linking Alexandria’s historic center with Abu Qir in the northeast. Twenty stations will serve key districts, most along elevated viaducts, with a southwestern section running at ground level.
Metro de Madrid’s global portfolio includes advising Delhi on a “Last Mile” freight project, supporting Lima’s Lines 2 and 4 expansion, and assisting Lisbon with CBTC signaling upgrades. Each initiative strengthens its position as a trusted international rail consultant.
Metro de Madrid’s influence continues to grow. In the first half of the year, it hosted delegations from 17 countries, including metro authorities from Santiago, Medellín, and Copenhagen, along with academic and government representatives from the USA, France, and Qatar.
By spearheading the Alexandria Metro plan, Madrid is exporting its operational expertise and reinforcing its status as a benchmark in global urban rail development. And with each project, it deepens its role in shaping modern transit systems.
