Adif Modernizes the Roda de Berà Tunnel

Adif is upgrading the 422-meter-long Roda de Berà tunnel, which handles around 120 trains daily. Workers are increasing tunnel clearance and adding a third rail for dual-gauge train operations.

The modernization includes waterproofing the tunnel’s arch, improving drainage systems, and installing a new contact network. These updates will allow trains to safely travel at speeds of up to 120 km/h.

Tracks on slab foundations are being laid at the tunnel entrances to enhance stability and durability. The project’s completion will remove speed restrictions, optimizing train performance along this strategic route.

Adif Invests in the Mediterranean Corridor

In 2024, Adif invested a record €1.28 billion into the Mediterranean Corridor, marking a 33% increase from 2023. The company also launched 65 tenders worth €1.4 billion to further enhance infrastructure.

The modernization strengthens Catalonia’s role within European transport networks and fosters international connectivity. This large-scale project will ensure improved regional and global economic growth.
