DHL and Lindt & Sprüngli have joined forces to pioneer sustainable ocean freight practices, significantly reducing environmental impact. Their strategic collaboration, focused on lowering emissions, has been in place since 2008, evolving toward a greener supply chain.

With DHL’s GoGreen Plus service, Lindt & Sprüngli adopts biofuels made from waste materials, achieving an average of 80% reduction in emissions. In just a few months, they have already cut approximately 514.86 metric tons of CO2e emissions and aim to reach a total reduction of 4,800 tons by the end of 2024.

This ocean freight solution not only reduces emissions but also ensures product integrity during transportation. DHL utilizes 40’ reefer containers, specially designed to maintain the quality of Lindt & Sprüngli’s chocolate products across vast distances, including key markets in the Americas, Asia, Australia, and South Africa.
Casper Ellerbaek, DHL’s Global Head of Ocean Freight, emphasizes their joint commitment to science-based targets and environmental stewardship. “Our collaboration with Lindt & Sprüngli reflects our dedication to sustainable logistics, setting a standard in the industry,” Ellerbaek noted.
