The project is funded under the national recovery plan supported by the EU.

The new equipment, including traction transformers and converters, will enhance the energy efficiency and reliability of the locomotives, increasing their speed to 160 km/h and power to 6000 kW, while reducing maintenance costs.

The use of modern technologies, such as IGBT transistors, will improve the traction drive efficiency by 5%, and regenerative braking will cut energy consumption by 15%.
