A “rail war” unfolded in Belarus
05.04.2022
In order to slow down the movement of Russian military equipment to Ukraine, Belarusians disable railway equipment, reports railway magazine Railway Supply citing DW.
Russian troops heading to Ukraine use the infrastructure of the Belarusian Railways (BelZhD).
Some residents of Belarus are trying to resist this. Human rights activists report at least eight detainees since the beginning of the war on suspicion of disrupting the schedule of Russian trains with weapons and involvement in the destruction of the BelZhD infrastructure.
DW infographic shows which sections of the railroad suffered in the “rail war”.
