The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan has submitted for public discussion a draft resolution on amendments to the agreement on border crossing points at the Kazakhstan-China border, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

A new railway border crossing point

The document envisions the opening of the freight railway border crossing point ‘Bakhty’ – ‘Pokitu’ on the border between the Abylai region of Kazakhstan and the Tacheng district of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China.

It is planned that after opening, this crossing point will operate 24/7.

Earlier, LogiStan reported that, starting from the beginning of 2023, the volume of freight transportation between Kazakhstan and China reached 23.6 million tons.

This is 4.19 million tons or 21.6% more than the previous year.
