A collision between a passenger train and a locomotive occurred in Buenos Aires

On Friday, around 10:30 local time, a passenger train on the San Martín line collided with a locomotive and an empty car.
The incident caused the first car of the train to derail and sustain serious damage.
According to latest reports, around 100 people were injured.
Eyewitnesses described the moment of the collision as a loud crash, causing many to fall to the ground, witnessing severely injured individuals.
The investigation is considering various causes of the disaster. One theory suggests a possible theft of signal cables, while another assumes human error.
Authorities responded promptly: Buenos Aires Mayor Jorge Macri expressed satisfaction with the effectiveness of the rescue operation, noting that all injured were evacuated within 40 minutes.
Rescue operations were supported by 90 ambulances, helicopters, and the fire department.
The state railway operator Trenes Argentinos has initiated an investigation into the causes of the accident parallel to the investigation conducted by the prosecutor’s office.
