63 thousand sleepers for the repair of railways will be purchased by Lietuvos geležinkeliai’s subsidiary Geležinkelio tiesimo centras (Railway Construction Center), reports railway magazine «Railway Supply» with reference to the Sputnik news agency.

The approximate amount of the contract is two million euros. LTG Infra, which manages the railway infrastructure of the Lithuanian Railways, announces a public procurement for the repair and construction of railways.

Lietuvos geležinkeliai communications director Mantasa Dubauskas said that historically the Lithuanian railway industry is still connected to the east, so it shouldn’t be surprising if some of the necessary components for the railways are produced in Belarus or Ukraine. It is highly likely that the supplier will be associated with one of these states.
