23 Coradia Stream electric trains for Greece: Alstom contract

Alstom has signed a contract for 23 Coradia Stream electric trains for Greece with operator Hellenic Train, a subsidiary of Italy’s railways (FS); the company outlined the agreement in a press release on the Alstom website. The deal is valued at €393m and also includes a 10-year maintenance package.

This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The Coradia Stream electric trains are designed for speeds of up to 160 km/h. Manufacturing will take place at Alstom’s plant in Savigliano, Italy. For intercity services, 11 trainsets are planned with a capacity of 335 passengers, while suburban operations will use 12 trains offering 362 seats.

Alstom Hellenic Train contract: delivery details
Each train is formed of six cars. The trailer cars have two doors on each side, while the end cars have one. Interiors will include enlarged luggage areas, spaces for bicycles and prams, and power sockets for charging mobile devices.
As part of the onboard fit-out, the trains will be equipped with passenger counting systems and audiovisual passenger information systems.
10-year maintenance and the HealthHub platform in Athens
Maintenance will be carried out at Hellenic Train’s depot in Athens. The work is set to follow a preventive approach, based on data on the trains’ actual condition, enabled through the cloud-based digital HealthHub platform.
€760m investment in modernising Greece’s rail network
The text also refers to an agreement signed in May 2025 by Italy’s railways (FS) and Greece’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. It provides for €760m of investment in modernising Greece’s rail network, including renewal of the rolling stock fleet.
