Throughout 2023, “Kazakhstan Railways” will receive 144 new freight locomotives, as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply.

New Freight Locomotives

Since the beginning of the current year, the company “Kazakhstan Railways” has already acquired 47 freight locomotives, and by the end of the year, the acceptance of 97 more units is planned. Deputy Head of “KTZ – Freight Transportation” Nurzhan Kelbuganov shared this information during a briefing.

Supply of Battery-powered Shunting Locomotives

According to him, there are currently around 700 freight locomotives in Kazakhstan, used on a daily basis.

Kelbuganov also emphasized that in less than eight months, “Kazakhstan Railways” has conducted repairs on over 600 kilometers of railway tracks.
