The new Beenleigh Station is part of the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project. It is intended to “unlock barriers” in the local public transport network. Also, it is intended to improve capacity and reliability.

New Beenleigh Station location and access

The Queensland Government said the updated designs reflect community feedback. It said the project would provide a “safer, more accessible station”. In addition, the design includes better walking and cycling links. It also includes a new bus interchange and expanded park ‘n’ ride facilities.

The station would be closer to Beenleigh town centre and key community facilities. In addition, the project would create a more integrated precinct for commuters and local businesses.

At the same time, the chosen location would allow continued operation at the existing station. It would keep operating during construction.

Community feedback on the updated designs

Queensland Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg commented on the updated designs. He said they were aimed at giving commuters a fresh start. Also, he described the area as one of the state’s fastest-growing regions.

“We said we would build a more reliable transport network for Queensland and that’s exactly what we are doing with projects like Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail,” he said.

“We are progressing a design that reflects the needs of the community with a station closer to where people live, work and connect.

“The new precinct will support more frequent and reliable services, reduce congestion on the network and make it easier for people to get where they need to go.”

Separately, Queenslanders can review the new designs and submit feedback until May 31.
