NSW Train Timetable Changes Enhance Regional Connectivity

NSW has rolled out a blanket train timetable refresh to boost service reliability, travel productivity, and customer convenience throughout the Blue Mountains, Lithgow, Central West, and Bathurst areas.

Transport for NSW has unveiled significant timetable changes to be implemented from Sunday, October 19. Revisions come as a consequence of a regular assessment of regional services to boost alignment and punctuality throughout the network.

The Bathurst Bullet intercity service makes the greatest variation. The Wednesday 3:52 p.m. Central to Bathurst train now commences earlier, leaving Central at 3:00 p.m. and arriving in Bathurst at 6:49 p.m. as opposed to 7:40 p.m. New time variation as follows:

• Central — 3:00 p.m. (previously 3:52 p.m.)

• Parramatta — 3:23 p.m. (previously 4:18 p.m.)

• Westmead — 3:25 p.m. (previously 4:20 p.m.)

• Penrith — 3:46 p.m. (previously 4:41 p.m.)

• Springwood — 4:09 p.m. (previously 5:04 p.m.)

• Katoomba — 4:42 p.m. (previously 5:37 p.m.)

• Mount Victoria — 4:58 p.m. (previously 5:53 p.m.)

• Lithgow — 5:26 p.m. (previously 6:21 p.m.)

• Rydal — 5:45 p.m. (previously 6:51 p.m.)

• Tarana — 6:16 p.m. (previously 7:07 p.m.)

• Bathurst — 6:49 p.m. (previously 7:40 p.m.)

Due to this new timetable, passengers will have a more certain and efficient travel, especially in peak evening hours.

Wednesday 7:40 a.m. Central to Bathurst service also gets a morning peak run earlier at several stations:

• Springwood — 10:04 a.m. (previously 10:18 a.m.)

• Penrith — 10:29 a.m. (previously 10:46 a.m.)

• Westmead — 10:51 a.m. (previously 11:19 a.m.)

• Parramatta — 10:55 a.m. (previously 11:23 a.m.)

• Central arrival — 11:20 a.m. (previously 11:52 a.m.)

NSW Revisions Evening and Morning Services for Improved Efficiency

Other time table adjustments aim to focus local and regional services to increase accessibility and cut congestion.

Weekday Lithgow to Central weekday 7:24 pm train to run a minute later at Valley Heights and Warrimoo, giving passengers an added minute to board.

Wednesday 8:26 p.m. service from Bathurst to Lithgow will depart an hour earlier for improved regional connections:

• Bathurst — 7:22 p.m. (previously 8:26 p.m.)

• Tarana — 7:53 p.m. (previously 8:57 p.m.)

• Rydal — 8:10 p.m. (previously 9:14 p.m.)

• Lithgow arrival — 8:29 p.m. (previously 9:33 p.m.)

In the same fashion, the weekday morning Lithgow-to-Bathurst train will depart earlier, leaving at 5:36 a.m. instead of 6:00 a.m., and arriving in Bathurst at 6:44 a.m. instead of 7:20:

• Lithgow — 5:36 a.m. (previously 6:00 a.m.)

• Rydal — 5:55 a.m. (previously 6:19 a.m.)

• Tarana — 6:11 a.m. (previously 6:47 a.m.)

• Bathurst — 6:44 a.m. (previously 7:20 a.m.)

Since these changes are designed to minimize morning and evening itineraries, passengers will have enhanced travel times and reduced dead time when making connections.

Bus services between the Bathurst Bullet and Orange have also been standardized to be regular throughout the week:

• Depart Bathurst — 7:10 p.m. (previously 8:00 p.m.)

• Depart Lucknow — 7:50 p.m. (previously 8:40 p.m.)

• Arrive Orange — 8:00 p.m. (previously 8:50 p.m.)

New Weekend, Weekend, and Public Holiday Bus Schedule

• Depart Bathurst — 7:10 p.m. (previously 7:00 p.m.)

• Depart Lucknow — 7:50 p.m. (previously 7:40 p.m.)

• Arrive Orange — 8:00 p.m. (previously 7:50 p.m.)

These coordinated services provide passengers to transfer directly between train and coach connections, minimizing waiting times and improving accessibility throughout the Central West.
