The Amtrak train collision in Jackson on March 20, 2026, prompted an emergency response. The 18-wheeler crash on Elton Road near Interstate 55 happened before 12:15 p.m. CT.

Amtrak said the Chicago to New Orleans train was en route at the time. In addition, there were 241 passengers and crew members on board. Meanwhile, Jackson police said the train struck the rear of the 18-wheeler. Also, three railroad crew members suffered minor injuries. Still, no passengers were hurt. Separately, police said the driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.
