Amtrak USA Rail Pass sale cuts the pass to $250 for a week

Amtrak USA Rail Pass sale pricing is in effect for a short window, bringing the USA Rail Pass down to $250 from the regular $499. The promotion is framed as the “Adventure Awaits Sale”; Amtrak Media describes it as timed to coincide with the celebration of America’s 250th birthday.

Booking dates and how the pass works

To get the $250 USA Rail Pass price, tickets must be booked between Wednesday, Jan. 14 and Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026. The pass is valid for Coach travel and covers 10 segments used over 30 days, with that 30-day period starting on the first trip. Riders have 120 days from purchase to begin travel, and then 30 days after the first segment to use the remaining trips. At the sale price, the math comes out to $25 per segment.

Amtrak says the USA Rail Pass applies across most of its network, with access to more than 500 destinations nationwide. The carrier’s Amtrak Multi-Ride & Rail Passes page also outlines the 10-segment, 30-day setup that the pass is built around.

In its description of the experience, Amtrak points to Coach accommodations such as wide reclining seats, ample legroom, no middle seats, and large windows. The company pitches rail as an alternative to flying or driving, with scenery along the way.

Amtrak also spotlights Amtrak Guest Rewards, emphasizing that membership is free and that points accrue on every dollar spent on Amtrak travel, with bonuses for Business Class travel and Acela First Class travel. The program includes reward travel options, with popular city pairs available for as few as 400 points. For the USA Rail Pass, Amtrak says members earn two points per dollar spent on each pass following travel on the first segment.
