The EU’s Center for Transport Projects has approved the allocation of 780 million złoty (€179.5 million) to the Polish passenger carrier, Polregio, to co-finance the purchase of 98 electric trains, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Polregio submitted the corresponding application in July, requesting over 3 billion złoty (€690.2 million).

It is noted that currently, the subsidy covers 26% of the rolling stock’s cost, and the carrier aims to increase it to 84% through further negotiations with EU regulatory bodies.
