Sinara Transport Machines (STM) has begun work on the assembly of RTM-32 machine units at San Engineering & Locomotives’ manufacturing site in India.

STM starts assembling RTM-32 kits in India

SKD is being implemented within the framework of the state program “Make in India”, which assumes a degree of localization in Indian territory of at least 51%, reports Railway Supply magazine, citing STM information.

Tamping machines (VPR) will be created on the basis of Russian machines. VPR track equipment is used in the construction, repair and maintenance of the railway track. Also VPR machines are used to maintain wooden and reinforced concrete sleepers.

The project documentation was developed and modified by STM technicians in accordance with the requirements of Indian Railways.

In February of this year, two consignments of machine complexes were delivered to India.

San Engineering & Locomotives ordered these kits last June for the production of two RTM-32 machines.

However, the assembly of these machines had to be postponed due to the exacerbation of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

STM stated that, despite the delay, the terms of the contract will be honored in order to provide the equipment in time.

The company intends to provide Indian Railways with two VPR for trial operation by the end of this year.

Anton Zubikhin, General Director of the STM Trading House, Deputy General Director for Sales, said: “The Indian railway market is one of the key export directions for the STM Holding. At the moment, our company supplies equipment to its Indian partners in the amount of 23.21 million dollars (20 million euros) ”.
