Siemens Mobility has completed the acquisition of Italian company Optrail S.r.l., a technology firm that develops new algorithms for Train Management Systems (TMS), according to Railway Supply portal citing Siemens Mobility.

new algorithms for Train Management Systems

These algorithms are built using complex optimization models and other mathematical operations research methods, providing conflict resolution through algorithm integration.

The integration of Optrail’s mathematical approach with Siemens’ TPS.live product is expected to enhance the efficiency of railway operations.

Game changing technology

TPS.live is a real-time train control system designed to handle unforeseen situations and disruptions in schedules.

With Optrail’s algorithms, necessary operational adjustments can be made within seconds, reducing departure time, minimizing delays, and maximizing the average train speed.

These technologies are already being applied in the North American market, where the Italian company has a contract with a major carrier.

Following the acquisition, Optrail will continue to be based in Rome, and its technology will be integrated into existing products of Hacon, a division of Siemens responsible for the software of the conglomerate’s projects.
