Russian metallurgists complain about delays in the transportation of products due to the lack of locomotives. This was stated by representatives of the Russian Steel Association.

Russian Railways lacks traction due to "stuck" locomotives in Ukraine

It is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to Railinsider.

As the publication “RZD-Partner” writes, “the issue of the shortage of main-line locomotives is not an easy one.” On the one hand, in September 2021, their total number increased to 11,671 units on average per day, which is 9.3% higher than the same indicator a year earlier. Apart from the fact that according to the Association of Metallurgists, the non-working fleet of mainline locomotives of Russian Railways increased by 16% against the level of 2020.

“According to a source among operators, part of the traction is stuck in Ukraine, where Ukrzaliznytsya, which is sorely lacking traction, detained two dozen Russian locomotives to use them for its own needs. This led to a convention for transportation to Ukraine by Russian Railways, the newspaper reports.

Employees of Ukrzaliznytsia have repeatedly raised the issue of the fact that a lot of Russian Railways locomotives work on the lines of UZ.

In particular, a photo of such an electric locomotive at the Konotop station on October 7 on his Facebook page was published by the driver of the Chernigov motor car depot Andrey Boykachev.
