Last week, at a working meeting with agricultural producers in Ukrzaliznytsia, they noted a reduction in rates for the use of grain carriers of the CTL UZ branch. The decrease in rates was recorded according to the results of the latest Dutch auctions. It is reported by Railway Supply magazine with reference to the Elevatorist.

At the auction, which took place on December 19, out of the proposed 1750 wagons, 1140 (65%) were purchased, the price was UAH 3083 per day. At the auctions on December 21, 470 grain carriers (27%) were bought for the same number of offered cars, the price for them was already 2848 UAH. In early December, the average rate for a CTL car was UAH 4,300.

According to Valery Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Department of Commercial Work of Ukrzaliznytsia, prices are falling due to a decrease in demand.

“The demand for wagons is decreasing, so the price at auctions is also decreasing. We see that the market has begun to sag in the cost of a wagon, and we will continue to adjust to the market situation,” said Valery Tkachev.

He also said that in the future UZ plans to hold auctions in both Dutch and English formats.
