Alstom will challenge the results of the largest railway tender in the history of Switzerland, in which Stadler won. Alstom has filed a complaint with the Swiss Federal Administrative Court challenging the selection of Stadler Rail as the winner of a tender for the supply of 286 single-decker electric trains for the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB).

Together with the option, the number of trains purchased under this largest tender in the history of SBB can reach 510 units. The court has already notified SBB of the complaint.

369 electric locomotives will be manufactured in Kazakhstan within the framework of cooperation with Alstom

It is unclear how litigation can affect the terms of trains production. According to the delivery plan, trains are to be delivered to SBB between 2025 and 2034.

SBB noted that the operator strictly complies with the law in the field of public procurement, and Stadler won by offering the best conditions according to the tender criteria.

The procedure for purchasing new trains was initiated by SBB together with two subsidiaries – Thurbo and RegionAlps, which account for almost half of the trains purchased on a fixed order.

Earlier, in Austria, the Federal Administrative Court annulled Stadler victory in the tender of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) for the supply of up to 186 double-decker trains worth hundreds of millions of euros for Lower Austria and Vienna. The reason is the use of a Swiss electronic signature, which, according to the court, is not recognized by the European Union and Austria. Alstom brought the case to court. However, Stadler considers the court decision incorrect and planned to defend itself.
