East Coast Railway freight earnings hit ₹23,000 crore in 294 days

East Coast Railway freight earnings reached ₹23,000 crore in 294 days of the current financial year, ECoR said in an official statement, as noted by Railway Supply. The zone said it crossed the mark on January 19 in FY 2025-26.

East Coast Railway freight earnings milestone achieved earlier than last year
ECoR said the ₹23,000 crore freight-earnings level was reached in 294 days—27 days earlier than in the previous financial year, when it took 321 days to get there, as reported by The Economic Times. A senior officer linked the result to the zone’s sustained growth and operational efficiency.
Earnings growth up to December 2025
Up to December 2025, ECoR reported that total originating earnings increased from ₹21,543 crore in 2024-25 to ₹23,959 crore in 2025-26, translating into overall growth of 11.21 per cent.

Over the same period, passenger earnings rose from ₹1,764.32 crore to ₹1,835.91 crore. Earnings from goods (freight) also moved higher, climbing from ₹19,482.63 crore to ₹21,749.38 crore, reinforcing the zone’s strong freight base.
Sundry earnings grew as well, increasing from ₹155.95 crore to ₹239.15 crore. ECoR said the rise points to diversification and stronger ancillary revenue streams.
Freight loading 209.97 million tonne (MT) keeps ECoR on top
On freight loading performance up to December 2025, ECoR said it emerged as the number one zone in Indian Railways. Freight loading stood at 209.97 million tonne (MT), compared with 188.64 MT in the previous year—an absolute increase of 21.33 MT—figures also reflected in an East Coast Railway update.
