Almaty–Tashkent Women-Only Carriage Starts October 1

The Almaty–Tashkent women-only carriage will be added to the daily international train from October 1. It will operate as part of train No. 1/2, with tickets available only to female passengers and onboard service provided exclusively by women conductors.

Boys up to seven years old will also be allowed to travel in the carriage when accompanied by an adult. Tickets will be available at railway ticket offices and through the carrier’s online booking platforms. Seats in the women-only carriage will be marked with the designation “ZH” (ЖН), with sales opening 45 days before departure.

Daily Almaty–Tashkent international train schedule

The Almaty–Tashkent international train runs daily between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. From Almaty, it departs at 19:05 and arrives in Tashkent at 12:53 the following day. The return service leaves Tashkent at 14:41 and reaches Almaty at 08:51.

Passenger Transportation JSC said the carriage is being introduced because of high demand and growing passenger numbers on the international route. Women-only rail service is already available on domestic routes in Kazakhstan.

Women-only rail service expands to an international route

Company data shows that more than 946,000 passengers have used women-only carriages since the service was introduced on Kazakhstan’s domestic network. Adding the Almaty–Tashkent route will increase the number of routes offering this option to 14.

The Almaty–Tashkent service will be the first international rail connection to extend Kazakhstan’s women-only carriage scheme beyond the country. The designated carriage will remain part of the existing train, while mixed carriages will continue to be available.
